Time Riders (Day of the Predators ) - Alex Scarrow (G)

Post by Little John »

Alex Scarrow used to write computer games which explains a lot. This is the second Time Riders book and my first Alex Scarrow. It is a bit like a story from a computer game and the writing style is a bit clichéd and simple in the most part. The main character, Liam, is an Irishman saved from the sinking Titanic by a Time Rider working for an agency whose job it is to correct time contamination caused by other time travellers.

Liam and his organic robot companion, Becks, are catapulted back 65million years into the past along with a group of gifted teenagers and adults during a visit to a,science facility. There they encounter an unknown species if intelligent dinosaurs who briefly become the dominant life on Earth.

Liam's character is straight out of the book of stereotypes. So he is. But despite his shortcomings, Alex tells a good story and there are some delightful pages of prose that show he can actually "write" when he tries.
Yes this is the real "Little John" (or it could be "colin")
