Mitch Albom is a genius. Whatever style he adopts however simple the sentences, he can craft the words to move you. Here, he tells the story of the life of a gifted musician who rises from humble origins in revolutionary Spain, to become a World Star. All this narrated by "Music" itself as an entity.
The book starts with his funeral after Frankie dies on stage in a mysterious way. We read obituaries from lots of famous folk from the music industry, all real and all mentioned with permission.
Frankie has a special guitar with six special strings that turn blue when Frankie changes a life in a meaningful way. Six strings, six lives. Albom's special skill may not change lives but he sure knows how to pluck the strings of your heart.

Similar to the 5 People You Meet in Heaven perhaps because they seem quite separate stories which make up the experience of the man who died as the beginning.
