The Guardians - John Grisham (G)
"The Guardians" are a non profit Christan legal charity working to exonerate and free wrongly convicted prisoners. Cullen Post is a lawyer turned preacher turned lawyer/preacher and champion of the wrongly convicted.
Quincy Miller is the current project. After 23 years in gaol, The Guardians are on his case to the annoyance of those who framed him. Meanwhile, Duke Russel is on death row, and is saved from a lethal injection by a last minute appeal by The Guardians.
Grisham knows all about wrongful convictions and wrote about one real life example in his book "The Innocent Man" although I dont think he managed such a monumental reversal of state conspiracy during his brief time as a lawyer.
I cant say too much about the results of Preacher Post's considerable efforts, but the expected last minute terrible turn of events doesn't actually happen. Which was nice but resulted in a slight anti climax.
Better than Camino Island.

I was reading this not realising that it was about a book. I wondered why I hadn’t heard of the Guardians.

John Grisham is an author of some note, so it was to be expected that this was about a book. The OP had me wondering if it were about his real life charity work.
Of course I'm athletic, I SURF the internet daily!

If I didn’t read John Grisham in the larger font size, I was hardly going to read the smaller library one, especially on a phone.
