Another “where are they?” more than a “whodunnit”. Daughter, spending the summer with her divorced father, doesn't come home from work. In fact the people at the place she was supposed to be working deny knowing her. Meanwhile both her parents are being watched. People are dying and everything starts to point at the father.
I'd love to discuss this further and in more detail. I might do a spoiler below to detail the various issues and would love to discuss how credible any of it is. Again very American. Full of idioms and oddly humour. But that annoying ubiquitous American TV humour.
I thought ending was a bit cliched and a bit unnecessary.

Linwood Barclay books that are usually found in charity shops or a friends may give it to you after it has been read. His books are a good read but the ending can be disappointing. An American dictionary could be useful
