The Remains of Tom Lehrer

The Remains of Tom Lehrer (performed by Adam Kay)
The Rondo, Bath
20th July 2016

A hot sticky night at the Rondo, a lovely little hall tucked away in Larkhall at the eastern end of Bath. There were some stunning summer outfits in the audience.
Adam Kay used to be one half of the medical comedy duo Amateur Transplants but since Suman Biswas went back to the day job of anaesthetist Adam's the only half. His caustic, some might say sick, sense of humour (check out his website or youtube) means that he is inevitably drawn to the Works of Tom Lehrer and in this show he performs a lot of original Lehrer material, updating some of them and chucking in a bit of his own stuff. In between he talks a bit about the man himself. Delivery is fast and furious and there were some good one liners. There was some attempt at interaction with the audience, on this night the audience generally failed to respond, the one weak spot was that Kay kept flogging the same dead horse which might have entertained him but dragged a bit for me. His piano playing is good for the material. Being Lehrer aficionados, and who isn't? we loved it and laughed a lot.
