You speak for yourself, it didn't send me down to the pub.
Children are like Slinkys - not much use for anything, but it always brings a smile to your face when you throw them down the stairs. Chinchilla

I found this thread looking for my "lighthouse keeper's bicycle" poem. Not that i wrote it, mind. But it was a quest to find it. Anyway, the rest of the poems in this thread deserve a revisit. 11 years ago!
Yes this is the real "Little John" (or it could be "colin")

Here's one by our friend whose funeral we watched on line this week. It seemed so pertinent, they printed it in the order of service and his sister read it out:
I'm Sorry I'm Late
By Rosie Fyfe

St Peter, St Peter
I’m sorry I’m late
Is that my old duffle bag down by the gate
Holding the things I mislaid in the past
Embedded in memories, rose tinted cast
Sounds and smells and tastes and things
Stolen sweets and missing rings
Forgotten feelings of wonder and joy
Not recalled until now from when just a boy
My Lone Star six shooter, my first real guitar
The smell of the leather in granddad’s old car
The thundering falls in Beddington park
The forbidden excitement of home after dark
Stale cakes from the baker, a penny a time
The flat lemonade, they tasted so fine
My first motorcycle, a royal blue James
Chasing the mods and calling them names
Sandra Frost’s lips when I stole my first kiss
Her scrap dealer father’s enormous clenched fist
Memories which time cannot ever erase
Subtly enhanced by countless replays
I’ll just get my bag, Pete. I won’t be long
To leave it outside here just has to be wrong
Its jumped on my back, almighty, that’s clever
I can look inside it forever and ever
Yes this is the real "Little John" (or it could be "colin")
