Men in Skirts
Can anyone spot the deliberate mistake?

Re: Men in Skirts
When my sister got married in a church in Surrey, one of our elderly Scottish friend turned up in a proper kilt. It was bright red.
Our Japanese relatives have never seen a man in a kilt before (on TV yes, but not in person), so they all got very excited

Re: Men in Skirts
digger is closest, although the shoes were laced for a formal do and not dancing, according to my North British (natives of Glasgow so not really highlanders) advisors. Similarly with the lack of a ceremonial dagger where, I was informed, it was considered to be infra dig to carry one where served dinner was not part of the festivities. Whatever it's all a load of tosh, invented in the 19th century by an Anglocentric Victorian.
Any more guesses, reference to the pic of me when I was 4 might help.

My dad didn’t wear a kilt to my daughter’s wedding because he felt he no longer had the legs for it but it was part of his RAF uniform in Gibraltar, where he said they had to walk over a mirror every morning to prove they were appropriately undressed underneath.

Your 4 year old self has buckles rather than laces.
Yes this is the real "Little John" (or it could be "colin")

Nah. It would probably take a true North Briton to find it.

Re: Men in Skirts
Russell Hunter toured Scotland with a play called Jock which I saw at the Harbour Arts a very small theatre. It’s a powerful one man performance anyway but even more so when the front seats are actually on the edge of the stage. In it he explained the difference between the plaid worn in battle, the banning subsequently and the introduction of the kilt. Tbh, I don’t think many Scots are unaware of this but it might be news to some other folks. Unfortunately I don’t think a video exists of his tour de force.

Re: Men in Skirts
I once watched someone dressing using a plaid, it wasn't quite as complicated as a sari but nearly so. And how the plaid was put on is relevent to my question.
As a South Briton I'm not entitled to wear any clan tartan but there are a handful e.g. Royal Stewart & Hunting Stewart, that can be worn by anyone. If my memory serves me right that one is the Hunting Stewart.

Just a question Simon, is it Stewart or Stuart? Curious, 'tis, all. Our clan tartan is Leslie (of Alvie)
