Lovely. My friend worked in Milan for 7 years and is always saying I should go to the lakes. I got as far as Bergamo and Milan on one trip.

It's easier being based at one of the lake resorts to go to Milan Venice etc.

One thing that I hadn't realised was the wish of some in the north to break away from Rome rule .
