A man who is being delivered from the danger of a fierce lion does not object whether this service is performed by an unknown or an illustrious individual. Why therefore do people seek knowledge from celebrities? EL-GHAZALI

If Mr Vincent Price were to be co-starred with Miss Bette Davis in a story by Mr Edgar Allen Poe directed by Mr Roger Corman, it would not fully express the pent-up violence and depravity of a single day in the life of the average family. QUENTIN CRISP

Re: Quote of the day:
Heard a good one yesterday on the radio. They were discussing charging for help from the CSA. If you remember, the CSA (Child Support Agency) was forced on single parents who may have sought the support of benefit payments if they could not track down and get money from estranged fathers.
A lot of fathers who did keep in touch and who were quite willing to pay for their childs maintenance were caught up in the witch hunt from which there was no escape. Now they want to charge for its services.
The classic quote however was "The problem with the plan to charge for the CSA is that it affects people who have children".

Re: Quote of the day:
This is a quote from yesterday. A play on Radio 4 about the family courts (which was actually quite good).
But one of the children was talking about her experience of school and said how she had learned about geography and volcanoes.
She added that they even have volcanoes in Scotland but:-
"they don't do much because they are Scottish."
