Wordle

Post by Lady P »

Just heard about this game on the Today programme but if you are on twitter you probably know about it.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

The aim of the game is to guess a mystery five-letter word, known as the “wordle” in six tries.

After each guess, the colour of the tiles will change to reflect how close your guess was to the word.

For example, if a tile turns green, that means that letter is in the word and in the correct spot.

Sounds like a word version of the old Mastermind game.

A few people on Twitter seem transfixed by it.

I haven’t tried it yet.

Guess the word. The tiles change colour according to how accurate you are. I can’t look at it again until tomorrow. Try a word and the tile goes black if the letter isn’t in the word at all, yellow if it’s in the word but in the wrong place and green if the letter is right.

Using the onscreen keyboard type a five letter word and press 'enter'
Correct letters in the right place the square turns green
Correct letters in the wrong place the square turns yellow (ochre on my laptop)
Incorrect letters the square turns black (grey on my laptop)

Words that don't exist in the apps dictionary (eg. AEIOU) aren't accepted.

Just don’t forget that a letter can appear more than once.
