A detached study of the russian thing

Post by Little John »

Attempting to take up the position of an observer with no political leaning or bias in any way, what can we assume we know with reasonable certainty?

It seems to me, that some aspects of the "evidence" have gone unchallenged, either by indirect confirmation or acquiescence.

They flew to london on friday and returned on sunday

Im not too sure of this but understand they travelled from london to Salisbury twice in that time

They wandered away from the cathedral very close to the victim's address

Rather than keep their heads down, they appeared on russian tv and confirmed the video and airport information, including times and dates

So at least some of the British claim has been verified or at least not denied.

They did look like military types to me, rather than students. Of course that is entirely a matter of opinion.

All this does rather test my willingness to accept co-incidence as being the answer. I am grudgingly coming ti believe the British version of events but ask myself why would the russians put on such a show?

Seems like it. But surely, a government with experience and responsibility wouldnt play it so badly. Putin seems as bad as trump and he should be much better at it with all his experience.

I think Trump and Putin are both playing at home.

Putin is a throwback to the soviet dictators with half an eye on keeping in favour with the Russian people and the rest on his bank balance .
There's nothing particularly democratic about him , serious opposition are most likely to have an unfortunate accident .

Listen you lot, if I hear "Are we there yet" one more time, the trip to Salisbury Cathedral is off.

It has started to look a bit odd but I still favour our government being in some kind of conspiracy.

I doubt that as they need the support of more neutral countries , it would not be helpful to be caught up in a lie .
It's clear that the police have been "helped" to come up with the cctv images .
One thing I'd suggest is that it wasn't actual FSB agents but possibly a couple of expendables coerced into carrying out the action , "suprising" how quickly they appeared on Russian tv after the cctv shots were published .
I mean painting a door nob , not quite up to the dodgy umbrella standard .
Putin and co. are all "ex" KGB don't forget

Not original I'm afraid, it, or things like it, are doing the rounds.

Russia doesn't want this kind of operation to be subtle, its aim is to thumb their nose at the 'West' and to create an atmosphere of fear amongst their internal opposition, it's their version of the IRA's knee-capping operations.
They also know that the Western media will blow up out of all proportion the events thus creating the idea that Russia is more important and has far more influence than it really does.
