Afterlife Netflix. Ricky Gervais

Post by Little John »

Just watched the final episode in a six part series by Ricky Gervaise. Along the lines of the one about the care home. In fact in this one, he regularly visits his dad in a care home suffering from dementia. But the main story here, is that his wife has recently died and Ricky is in pain and angry at the World.

Not your regular theme for a comedy but then its not exactly a comedy as we know it, Jim. I wasnt sure at first but Ive just been in tears of laughter and in tears of joy and sadness. I actually think the man is a genius.

Very black humour and brilliant pathos.

When it started, I got the pathos thing. It was very similar to the one about the old folks home. But he did seem to throw in the odd joke straight from his joke book which seemed to lower the tone somewhat. But as it developed and the characters developed, the heroin addict, the woman in the park, the others in the office and even the postman, it got a lot deeper and more interesting. Most of the script is very professional. It says that he wrote and directed it which, if true, shows him as being very adept at both.

We use our son's netflix subscription as does his mother-in-law in Brasil. Perhaps you could be added to their user list.

I got Netflix after I ditched Sky who are still offering me a discount to come back , with my subscription and I don't know if know if things changed it was based on screens i.e. 1,2 or 4 mines is two and although the tv is capable of UHD I just stuck to HD .
As to the OP it doesn't come up in my suggestions .

Maybe her memory could be nudged next time she wants you to look after the beast.

He is very content for a few days. The heat lamp is on an automatic timer and a big pile of salad with water and he is tickety boo.
